Everyone has a slightly different reason for wanting to become a coach but at the heart of it are two things: a desire to help others and the drive to address a “pain point” in their own life…like wanting to stay home with children instead of leaving them in the care of others, a desire to pay down debt and live with financial freedom, enabling spouses to achieve a better work/life balance, fulfilling a dream to own a business, earning extra money for vacations or to pay for upcoming expenses or save for retirement.
The best fitness equipment, best training program or nutrition plan and best fitness facility in the world cannot help a person get fit and healthy if they lack the motivation to use them.
That’s where coaching comes in!
As a Beachbody Coach, you come alongside a client to learn their healthy living goals and help them navigate through challenges, excuses and downturns that ultimately happen on any fitness journey. As a result, clients receive complete package…access to products and tools designed by experts in the field and the personal care that comes from working one-on-one with someone…and do so more affordably than if they would hire a fitness expert, nutritionist and independent health coach separately.
Coaching is something that can be done anywhere…at least any place with a phone or Internet connection. I love that I can literally take my job on the road, or the beach or the park and that it allows me to stay at home with my children.
It also provides an opportunity for work/life balance as you determine how to fit it in with your schedule.
Financially, while Beachbody does not guarantee success (because it’s dependent on effort and stick-to-it-ivenss), there is huge potential available for you to generate an income level that matches with your goals.
Before you complete the application, please consider what coaching is not:
It isn’t a “get rich quick” scheme: With anything in life, success comes to those who work for it and show up daily to put in the time and effort to achieve their goals. Building a business takes perseverance … a willingness to push through challenges, learn from mistakes and fail forward.
It’s not about pushing products on people: I would be the first to run in the other direction if it was. LOL Instead, you share about what is working for you and your excitement for the results you are achieving and then inviting others to join you in the journey. It is an opportunity to encourage people in the areas where they may be feeling stuck and providing them with a proven plan and the tools to succeed in their health, fitness and/or financial goals.
It’s not a 9-5 job: You certainly have the option of working traditional business hours as a coach, but if that doesn’t work for you, then set the hours and days that do work with your schedule. At minimum, it’s best to set aside at least two hours a day to dedicate to this, but it doesn’t need to be consecutive hours and even includes your workout time! There are many coaches with full-time jobs and family obligations who find ways to fit their business into the nooks and crannies of their day or decide to replace time wasted in scrolling on social media with time focused on business building through social media.
It’s not about being an expert or being perfect: Because a coach comes alongside a client, coaching does not require you to be a fitness expert or nutritionist. However, you do have access to products and tools from the people who are experts in these fields! Nor does it require you to be perfect or never have a bad day when it comes to your personal nutrition or workouts. It helps clients to know we have the same struggles as they do, but that we have learned how to persevere and can keep holding out the vision of living a healthy lifestyle.
It’s not a traditional boss/employee relationship: While you may be joining my team, you are the CEO of your own coaching business. You will not have to report to me and neither will I tell you what to do. I will provide you with the training and resources you need to get your business up and running and I will invite you to opportunities for professional and personal growth, but these are not requirements. You get decide how to run your business. I will warn you however, that if you do not treat your coaching business as a business, then your potential for growth and success will diminish.
It isn’t about you: This one is tough! Coaching is about meeting the client or potential client where they are at, understanding their needs, asking questions, listening deeply to them, connecting them with the right tools and helping them overcome their obstacles. Everyone has a different health history and body type, so what works for you might not work for another person. As a coach, it’s important to remain humble enough to remember this and while it is helpful to share what works for you, never force anyone to commit to something that might not be right for them.
